The glasses, which are sold as part of Kmartâs Anko range, are a budget alternative to Metaâs AI smart glassesâwhich feature an in-built camera capable of taking photos and recording videos.
Queensland shopper Gracie Johnson told Yahoo Lifestyle that the affordable price could mean that the technology becomes far more widespread.
âWe already have cameras absolutely everywhere. At least if someone has a phone pointed at you, you can generally tell youâre being filmed.â
âWith these, you might have absolutely no idea.â
The 28-year-old added, âUnfortunately there are creeps out there. I donât love the idea of making it even easier for them.â
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, a Kmart spokesperson said that the Anko glasses are part of an âestablished and increasingly mainstream category of wearable technology.â
âAs with any other device capable of recording images, we expect customers to use the product responsibly, respectfully and in accordance with applicable laws and community expectations around privacy.â
